This is one of my most special paintings.  the picture this was based off was given to me by my uncle eddie as a wedding present. it is of me, my grandfather pop on my moms side and eddie.  we were in arizona and eddies 2 kids are at the bottom not yet old enough to hang.  but yeah they were.  i used to go to northern arizona all the time and kick it with my family there.  my grandfather pop was the toughest chicano north of the border.  he was a tunnel rat in vietnam.  He would crawl into small tunnels the vietcong had built and snuff out trapped fighters.  i have a tattoo of a rat that was a flag they captured.  pop was a legend to me as whenever i saw him it was a surprise. he used to come visit us in the country in the 70's in missouri and drop off eddie for a week or so.  eddie would teach me how to break dance and listen to rap music.  later on we would visit pop out in the country in arizona and he would be drinking beer and wearing his cowboy hat.  i still am enamored with both of them.  they will forever be two of the coolest, realest and most special people to me.
