This painting evolved from several different ideations. I really wasn't ever much of a boxing fan until Mike tyson came out in the late 80's. My good friends in charlotte and i would get the fight and have a blissful time drinking and watching him destroy people. later on in san francisco i would get the fight at my house in west portal and invite all the busboys from the restaurant I worked at and we'd party it up. it was a good time indeed. i love mexican boxers though. their hard spunkiness and small stature. you definitely wouldn't want to get caught in a street fight with them. one of the most pivitol moments of my life was in a street fight in the city. we got jumped by some guys and i fought 4 or 5 guys at once. i wasn't sober or i would have fared way better. one of them kicked me in my eye and i've had issues with it ever since. there were significant moments in that fight that was a window into my relationships with 2 of my friends. I was in another main street fight in college where i challenged this football player because he stole our bikes. i punched him twice in the nose hard and then tried to tackle him- that was a mistake. my bro's pulled him off me but he got a few good strikes in. I feel like if i was in a fight now i'd be ready. i think one of the all time wishes for people would be to get a life redo with the knowledge they have now.
