This painting created all the feels for me.  the story behind it, i will remember it for my whole life.  i crave moments that are real, spiritual, deep and connected.  my uncle eag moved to san francisco in 1998 and then moved to west oakland with me when my roommates kicked me out of our flat.  we lived in a wharehouse in the ghetto with other artists who i'd known and played rugby with.  he lived there a little while and we played music and hung out.  he later moved back to the 'sco and lived in a hostel for several years.  we used to wheatpaste and sticker all over the bay area.  People eventually paid us to do this.  But we'd go out late at night and just paste like some renegade street artists..  one day we were driving in a old jetta late at night back to west oakland.  we turned into our block and i was driving very slow.  i had the gladiators on very loud playing 'bongo red' with the windows down.  the entire street we were rolling down had an immediate energy connection.  all the rasta street people were totally hearing the music and vibing to it. The music was putting the street in a trance and for a few minutes we were all connected by that sound.  it was an authentic moment with some very good music with some cool people. this painting is of those minutes. we belonged there.
